Beginner sailing training course

Learn to sail with this sailing program, intended to teach you the basics to operate a sailing boat and to give you an overview of life on board. You will sail in the area of Marseille, on the Mediterranean Sea.

 

NAVIGATION AREA :

We will depart from Marseille, in the South of France. This area is known for the beauty of its "Calanques", small fjords and creeks typical of this coast. It is also a windy spot with the famous "Mistral" blowing out of the Rhone valley.

TRAINING PROGRAM :

1. Security measures

2. First contact with the sailing boat environment (vocabulary, knots, inventory ...)

3. Basic sail maneuvers

4. Mooring maneuvers

5. Navigation first steps

6. Basic maintenance

7. Basic maritime environment knowledge

Note: The training program may vary depending on the weather and always stays therefore flexible.

TRAINING CERTIFICATE

Upon completing the course, you will be delivered an official training certificate as well as a written evaluation of your sailing skills, including  recommendations of your instructor for further trainings.

YACHT:

We will sail on a 30 to 38 feet yacht specially selected for this training program, for a team of 4 to 6 people, instructor included.

LOGISTICS :

We will welcome you on board at the Marina on Saturday afternoon and will free you one week later on Friday evening. You will receive detailed instructions after enrollment.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Training will take place in France, so if you need a visa to sail in this country, please give yourself enough time to get it to avoid stress and disappointment.

• Alcohol can be a real security problem on a boat. As a consequence, it is only authorized in reasonable quantity when safely moored after navigation.

• Upon enrollment, you will receive a "sailor guide" to be sure you have all information you need to enjoy your first sailing practice!
